The toy room has beed a great addition
My outdoor area still needs quite a bit of attention. And I haven't decided on timber or concrete.

No Photos

No photos yet. I will try try to take them on the weekend and update.

Sorry for those that click and think "she's got her new house and now won't update the blog".

Well here I am. I have been in 3 weeks now, boy it goes fast when your there and slow when your waiting.

We finally got our driveway poured on the weekend. It's pretty steep, don't know how I'll go reversing up in the mornings! I need to wait until the weekend before I can drive into the garage, so still parking out the front.

I venture out to the dust pile I call a backyard on the weekend and picked up a lot of half bricks and rubbish left behind by the builders. Alot of these brick pieces have obviously beed driven over as the are half buried in the ground. Very difficult to get out.

I was looking at the selkirk retaining walls for the 3 walls needed but not too sure on the expense as our house slopes down at the back so you will not see one of the retaining walls unless you are at the bottom of the garden, the other two are out the front. Can I use 2 different materials or would that look odd?

My floorboards are dusty as, everyday i bring out the trusted Enjo and give a sweep and half an hour later you can see the dust creeping back. Maye I should have gone something lighter. Do tiles show as much?

I love the look of the Plantation shutters in the bedroom and they don't let too much light in. I would say more than a blind but less than vanetians (not sure on spelling). They are one of my favourite things.

My other things I'm loving are the childrens retreat. Love the messy toys being away from the living area. I love my couch. I think I've allready said that 20 times allready. My dishwasher is a bit of a letdown....it won't hold the square plates as they are too big and it doesn't dry very well. It leaves pools of water on the upside of glasses and anything with a dimple big enough to hold water. I read the book and it said it had a drying feature.

I love the double shower....and the fact it has a hand held thingy, i can take it off and rinse the kids shampoo out without all that fuss.

My pantry is filling up quickly - hard to believe. We wnt down to Can factory and stocked up on some things now we have somewhere to put them. I do like the kettle, toaster and now sandwich press being always ready to go and out of the veiw of visitors.

So my current task is to make the yard look decent and try and pay off these bills with connection costs. I mean really telstra $299 for what!!! I allready paid $160 to have the cable installed. I can't get adsl due to paired gaming system!!!

Anyway hope everones house is going great guns. Weather in VIC has been perfect for building. I will (hopefully:) put photos on Monday when back at work.

Mud Mud

I have moved into my dream house. It still feels like a holiday house or something.

I asked my DH did he order breakfast for the morning and he gave me a strange look.

I have not been able to take photos with my camera as it is in mum's car and I keep forgetting to get it, so I took a couple on my mobile. One of my lounge - I love my knew couch and the other of my bedroom. We got Plantation Cedar shutters put in just yesterday. My house smells like a sauna atm.

Driveway has still not been done yet - had a slip this morning straight into the mud. Lovely for the fist day back at work. Anyway good weather this week some praying I'm not forgotton.

Haven't had the housewarming yey - too muddy lol.

I'm Floored!!!!

Yes it's true....we have some flooring. Here's the proof.

And our countdown is not very far away now. We just have Carpet on Tuesday, a walkthrough on Wednesday final appliances next Monday, cleaners booked Monday and handover (could be Tuesday)!!!!

Then maybe we can stop feeling like a thief and looking through the windows so much...

Everything is coming together nicely and no more stress. That is until the bills start arriving and the credit card statement (oops).

CONCRETE

The path and driveway are set to be done this week (weather permitting). I was suprised by the price of the crossover though. I was told to expect $500 approx but it is $2,000! Just a small difference in pricing there. I know my block is bigger than the norm these days but surely not that much. Anyway it's too late to return all those new things for the house thankfully, I will just have to sell my soul. Maybe a bit dramatic but I will figure something out.

The timber floorboards are set to go down this week also and lots of finishing things - still waiting to be told when inspection day might be.

Huuurrrry up

How slow has this week gone!!! I mean really.

I haven't actually been out to the house this week, but I'm told I have shower heads and taps etc. Also i'm told the kitchen tap is the wrong one. Sent off an email this morning - no response yet. We wanted a square type one and we got a gooseneck one. Hopefully not a hassle to fix.

I will try to go out on the weekend and see what we are up to. Sold my old couch on ebay this week and new one is ready to be delivered. Also bought a TV cabinet off ebay - 1.8mts long so should look good. Can't wait to put everything in and set up.

Just been out and checked the house now it's got lighting. I think now is the hardest time for me seeing everything soooo close I just want in. I know I know not long to go but it's painful at least at the start you were just happy watching the progress and excited when something was done each time you visited but now you know there is only a couple of visits left and it will be moving day!!! hello to David and family if you are looking hope little baby Ryan is doing well and not giving Jacqui too much trouble.

Exciting!!!

We have been told that we should be in by the end of the month!!!!

Yaaaaayyyyyy!! I have been very excited about this. The electrician has finished so I'm going out there tonight to chaeck everything out.

Not too much left to do...driveway in 2 weeks and flooring then also I guess just the finishing touches after that. I will take some piccies tonight to post.

I have organised Telstra and even got a phone number as we are on a different exchange and need a new number. mcon are organising Electricity for me. Not too sure about gas?

I will post more tomorrow.

I can see the finish line......

Come inside, have a cuppa.

The painters have all finished and the electrician has started. He has fit all the inside lighting and just needs to complete the outside.

All looking very nice, makes me want to move in now without the carpet!

Here are some photos of the doors now they are stained and I even took a picture of the heater control! Getting excited about all the little things.

Painting has commenced!!

The painters have started last week and will be staining my feature doors today and hopefully finished by Friday.

This then leaves Electrical fitouts of which I picked up all our lights on the weekend but the downlights were the wrong colour. We were after white but got polished brass. We thought about keeping them (not) and will be swapping them today or tomorrow.

I then beleive they will work on flooring and carpets, driveway and path, fittings for cupboards and wardrobes. Roller door. Not sure what else. Starting to get excited!!!

Hopefull I can take some more photos when the electrician needs the lights. Here are the kids lights for their rooms.

This one is Sophia's room. She has a 4 poster bed with white side curtains and very pretty pink accessories. She is only 4 but I'm sure this can grow with her and look modern and sophisticated as she grows up.

Here is Lachlan's - As he is only 18 months I thought I could get away with this. Still not sure how to decorate his room as he will still be in cot for a little whil and cot has removable side for small bed. But I thought maybe a fire truck bed would be cool.

Here is a picture kind of of my couch. I almost went for the red one but eventually chose Chocolate Brown Leather. I can then add a bit of red to this if I want to or change to green, blue, orange whenever I choose.
I did not get the ottoman ($495) so I will be on the lookout for an old one to do up in a complimentary colour.
Enough raving for now.

TILES!

I have tiles!!! I must say I love the look and can picture the end. Painting is supposed to start tomorrow so when we go out this weekend it should be painted.
I went out to have my windows measured but there is a 5ml discrepancy in the front windows, this means if i want plantation shutters I would have some light coming through. Just not sure if that's a good idea for a bedroom and also I could not get my flyscreens out if inside the window.
Not sure what to do now. I can put them outside the window but i'm having trouble picturing this. MMMM something to google for the next few days anyway. Hope you enjoy the pics.

Locked out again

Well all our plaster is finished, we sorted out our clear bedroom doors and our front door arrived and it was the wrong one too!

Spoke to M3tricon and hopefully they can get what we wanted otherwise I didn't hate it and would have to keep it as is.

The painters are meant to be out there this week and the tilers so hopefully I can get some more photos soon with the bathroom selections done - I can't wait for this.

I'm on count down. Don't have a date given to me yet but hoping 6 weeks as I'm told the concrete should be end of June and that is usually the last thing - hopefully - fingers crossed.

It's getting very muddy out there atm walked around the house the other night and came out with mud bricks on my feet. Lovely. I think I will leave the garden till spring or summer and just focus on the deck now for the house warming and grand final day bbq.

Anyway just thought I would update as I've been reading all the other blog updates and love it when there's something new to read. Lucky work has high speed broadband. lol.

I'm all happy again. Just a bit poorer.

I have spoken to the door suppliers and apparently the door of my choice would have cost me more anyway so I'm only out approx $30 per door more than what it would have cost to have the glass replaced with frosted.

So all good and can look forward to moving in with my frosted doors yay!

M3tricon have been great about this and helped out as much as they could and Site Ricky is great, owe him a beer or two. Wonder how many weeks to go now.

Photos

Finally got some photos of the cabinets but I'm feeling a bit low today.

The feature doors arrived and I realised they are clear glass not frosted. I mean really!! clear glass bedroom doors. And clear glass linen cupboard, you would have thought someone would have picked up on this, and even I should have noted this on the contract.

Anyway not sure what I can do about it now as I do not want clear glass and I'm not sure how much it will cost to get it replaced with frosted glass.

Just when I had gotten over the tile costs.
